Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is a platform game that is invested by Sonic Team from Sega Technical Institute in Sega. The character designer is Takashi Thomas Yuda. The lead designer is Hirojazy Tasygara. The programming designer is Yuji Naka. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is had close ties with Sonic & Knuckles. Sega initially planned these two games to be one but due to time constraints and cartridge cost, they are split into two. Both Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 have solved more than three million copies.
If you are in single player mode, you can choose either Sonic & Tails. If you are in dual player mode, another player can control the Tail with a second controlled that is plugged into port 2.
Throughout the game, you will find water. You can only survive in the water for 30 seconds. If you have been underwater for 15 seconds, the Jaws music will start playing. When you are under the water for 20 seconds, a 10 second count down will automatically begin. When the countdown timer reach zero, you die. To survive longer under water, look for the large bubbles and jump into it. The large bubbles will supply you oxygen so that you will stay alive under water. You should be wary for anything horizontal or vertical that can potentially crush you. There are a lot of bottomless pit throughout the game. If you fall into one of the bottomless pits, you will die. If you fall into oil, you will die. Although Super Sonic is invincible to the enemies, it can be killed through drowning, falling into oil, falling into a chasm, time out and crushed by anything horizontally or vertically.
The story of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 starts continued from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. After Dr. Robotnik s mech suit exploded, the Death Egg was overthrown from the orbit. Consequently, this has brought serious damage to the ship. The Death Egg crash landed on Floating Island instead of the earth. Floating island is a mystical floating landmass that is known to exist only by legend. When Dr. Robotnik repair the ship, Knuckles the Echidna appear. Knuckles is the only survivor of an ancient civilization that lives on the island. He is the guardian of the Master Emerald and has power to grant levitation powers. Dr. Robotnik tricked Knucles into believing that Sonic is trying to steal his Emerald because he knew Sonic and Tails would discover his whereabouts. After that, Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails arrive in their bi plane.
When Knuckles find out, he ambushes Sonic and knocks the Chaos Emeralds from him. Sonic was shocked but cannot do anything. As Sonic and Tails travel through the levels, Knuckles are seen almost everywhere. When Sonic is in the Launch Base zone, Knuckles bombed the building they re in but they manage to escape. Sonic travels in his Egg O Matic and finds Knuckles standing on top of a pole. When the Death Egg launches off again, Knuckles was knocked off the pole. Sonic travels to a platform on the Death Egg where Dr. Robotnik waits for them. In the end, Sonic and Tails defeated Dr. Robotnik and Death Egg is destroyed.
