Having goals will help to boost your self esteem especially when you start to achieve them.

Goals will keep you focused and help you to maintain momentum when the sea of life gets rough.

I'm sure you've heard the commonly used phrase

"When the going gets tough, the tough get going"

But How Will Having Goals Help To Boost Your Self Esteem?

Well, to answer that question, lets look at the major causes of a damaged or low a self esteem.

1, Lack Of Purpose

2, Loss Of Job

3 Negative View Of One's self

4,Negative Thought Patterns

5,Negative life Experiences

The list above have one thing in common, which is the ability to drag one down to a low self esteem.

In my previous article i explained my view on the origin of self esteem.

One of the fundamentals things have discovered is that no one is born with a low self esteem,
it's actually something that is cultivated and developed due to external factors.

When you look at society today, we have men and women changing their eating habits just to get that perfect shape, or to look a certain way in order for them to fill good about themselves.

It has being proven that people with goals have a better self image in comparison to those with none.

A goal will give you energy, focus, and a sense of duty. It's extremely hard, if not impossible to focus on achieving a goal and at the same time feel depressed.

Our minds can only concentrate on one thing at a time, if you are thinking about a goal that
is what your mind will focus on.

If you are thinking about how bad you look, or how unattractive you might think you are,
that is what your mind will focus on.

Having a goal will help you get rid of most negative thought pattern simply because you will be to busy to entertain them.

I remember when i decided to pursue my goal of becoming a published author. At the start i was constantly worried about the possibility of getting rejected and in the process damaging my self confidence.

I spent years debating, before finally deciding to make it happen.

The first thing i did was to print out 250 manuscript, and send them off to 250 publishers.

Based on the laws of averages, i believed the more rejection i got, the closer i will get to a yes.

I went through what i would refer to has an emotional roller coaster, has the rejection letters came pouring in, one after the other.

What really kept me going was the fact that i had a goal, which had consumed me.

I made a conscious decision that i will keep going no matter what.

The goal gave me a razor sharp focus which helped to cut through every obstacle, rejection and the overwhelming feeling of getting rejected.

It was only just after receiving 144 rejection, before i finally got a yes from my now publisher.

Words can not express what that one yes did for my self confidence and self esteem.

That yes gave me a tremendous feeling of achievement, and it also helped me to over look all those rejection i had received previously

Have heard stories about women in labour wishing they never got pregnant whilst going through labour,
but that view quickly changes once the baby is born.

The lesson to learn here is that the pain of moving towards your goal, is always short lived if you keep going, but the pain of not starting will always hunt you if choose not to start, or should you decide to quit

What is my point?

"The Darkest Hour Is Always Before Dawn"

Having goals is very important when it comes to cultivating a healthy self esteem.

The biggest human desire is the need to feel important, and the desire to have a sense of achievement.

Are you ready to boost your self esteem with the power of goals?
1, Write down your goals

2 Give your goal a deadline

3, identify potential obstacles and create a solution

4 Break your goals down to baby steps

5 identify what you must do daily to move you closer to your goals

6,Identify what it will cost you i.e time/money

7,Identify why you must achieve your goals.

In closing, in order to achieve your goals you must also commit to this Motto:

"Have got to do what have got to do, when have got to do it no debate.
