In case you are reading the next few paragraphs then it is very likely you familiar with the public speaking phobia: "Today is the great day!, you were not sleeping well last night and your appetite was quite bad in the last few days (some of us, on the contrary will suffer compulsive eating). You just few minutes ago started your day and already undergo sweat in your hands. You smell your own anxiety - a fear of public speaking.
In days like this, you've the feeling that your whole body betray on you. Even your legs are affected. You suddenly become consciousness aware of your stiff walking like you are going to stumble in the following step... And you are not. Some how, you manage to control your gestures, and provides a artificial smile towards the public around like saying "I am in good mood today, and you?" Actually, you are far from that!
You seat inside the hall (or classroom, or office's meeting room) and wait to your turn. You even try to listen to other' presentation, and you actually ear other's presentation, and can nod with your head if you agree with them, but nothing of their ideas really get into your head. You are now locked in the cave of your speaking phobia.
The moment has come. Butterflies in your stomach , and you become fully aware of cold sweat warped upper body. Luckily, our body has an additional resources raised upon emergency conditions, and this is the only thing that currently hold you on your legs when standing in front of your listeners. Your throat is getting dried up, and it looks to you like you forgot anything you planed to tell. Your audience are not really notice that (unless for severe situations) but inside, you are full of self blame. You are now deep in the realm of self blaming.
Actually, you success quite well and do say what you planned to say, and you are not in the position of twiddling with ideas and capture the deep interest of your audience. You lost your sense of time and your autopilot mind brought you to the end of your presentation. You can rest a little bit and respond some questions. After all, free discussion is what you like, not those public speaking events.
The reality is that lots of persons suffer the same phenomenon as you do and has the fear of public speaking. The strange thing is that while we actually not alone in this, when it happen we are getting mentally isolated.
